A Mauri carpet hand-knotted in Kabul, its entire field worked as a honeycomb of small hexagonal panels — each one holding its own rosette, cycling through madder red, indigo, cobalt, green, gold and ivory.
The panel count is what sets this piece apart: hundreds of individually drawn compartments, none of them careless. Ivory border of quartered florals, layered guard bands, striped kilim ends.
