The Handmade Andkhoy Rug is a richly patterned piece from one of northern Afghanistan's most famous weaving towns. Crafted by skilled artisans, it is hand-knotted using 100% wool pile with a tight, even weave — clearly visible on the back of the rug — ensuring both durability and a luxurious feel underfoot.
This piece showcases an allover lattice of large serrated diamond medallions alternating ivory, deep navy, and soft taupe across a burgundy field, each filled with hooked stem-and-blossom motifs and separated by small star rosettes. A border of floral rosettes in green, navy, and ivory frames the composition, and hand-knotted fringe completes its traditional character. With no single central medallion, the balanced allover design works beautifully under furniture and in high-traffic rooms.
Measuring approximately 1.5m x 2m (about 4'11" x 6'7"), the Handmade Andkhoy Rug is ideal for a living room, bedroom, or entryway. The harmonious palette of burgundy, navy, ivory, taupe, green, and rust accents brings warmth and old-world character, pairing beautifully with both traditional and modern interiors. Each rug is one-of-a-kind, and slight variations in dye and knotting are a testament to its handmade character.
With meticulous craftsmanship and hand-finished details, this rug is both a functional piece and a work of art.
